Why do I need Primary Response SafeConnect
Optimized for Norton if I already have Norton AntiVirus?
Primary Response SafeConnect Optimized for Norton AntiVirus provides protection
against zero-day attacks that cannot be identified or removed by Norton AntiVirus.
Primary Response SafeConnect Optimized for Norton AntiVirus is a pro-active
solution that determines malware is attempting to run on an infected system
based on what it does rather than what it is. Norton AntiVirus works to identify
malware based on signature files and scanning of the system for known threats.
Primary Response SafeConnect Optimized for Norton AntiVirus provides a solution
against unknown threats that currently do not have a signature file to identify
and remove it from the system.

How does Primary Response SafeConnect
work?
Primary Response SafeConnect uses a unique technology approach
called Active MDT to detect and remove malicious software in real-time
without relying on signatures and scanning. Active MDT works by continuously
monitoring and analyzing the behavior of every piece of code running
on the machine. It combines multiple behaviors to get an accurate picture
of whether something is malicious or not, regardless of how it got on
the machine. Once something is identified as malicious, Active MDT stops
and removes it from the system, along with all of its related components.

What is Active MDT?
Active MDT is an innovative approach that uses behavior heuristics
to detect and remove malicious software befor it can harm PCs. Active
MDT provides superior protection for PCs because it identifies a combination
of behaviors as the definition of malware, instead of looking at a single
behavior or using a single rule. Active MDT has numerous built-in detection
mechanisms to determine if a program is truly malware. This includes
(1) stealth detection, the identifying of hidden files and processes,
(2) survival detection, which includes multiple generic and advanced
methods for detecting programs that start automatically and (3) payload
analysis (key loggers detection, unusual network activity, unusual system
activity).

What is different about the
removal capabilities provided by Primary Response SafeConnect?
Most anti-spyware tools rely on removal scripts which are specific
to one instance of spyware or malware. When the script is applied to
other machines, it often fails to remove all the related components.
This approach also fails to allow for new attacks, variants of existing
attacks and targeted attacks, all of which require a unique removal script
in order to be effective.
Primary Response SafeConnect removes malware accurately and completely
without scanning your personal computer or relying on removal signatures.
The removal process starts as soon as an attack is detected, preventing
it from being able to propagate itself and install additional components,
which would otherwise start a malicious chain of events. Removal is deep
and thorough, tracking down and eliminating all related components (dlls,
registry settings, configuration files), handling re-install prevention,
system configuration recovery, and removal of system extensions such
as services, LSPs, BHOs, and many others.

What is Spyware ?
The term Spyware refers to software programs that collect personal
information from you without your knowledge or permission. Some types
of spyware programs are fairly benign, while others are extremely dangerous;
the information that spyware collects can range from all the Web sites
you visit to more sensitive information like user names and passwords.
You might be the target of spyware if you download music from file-sharing
programs, free games from sites you don't trust, or other software programs
from unknown sources. Spyware can sometimes infect your computer using
security holes in the Windows Operating System, or by no actual actions
of your own.

Why should I be concerned about spyware?
The negative consequences of spyware can impact both you and
your PC. Here’s how:
What Spyware Can Do To You
- Harvest personal and private information including passwords, social
security numbers, and other sensitive and confidential data used to
access your bank and/or credit card accounts
- Track web sites you visit for use by relentless marketers who bombard
you with irritating spam and pop-ups
- Record your keystrokes for use by deviant thieves to steal your
identity
- Hijack your browser, redirecting you to sites with objectionable
material
What Spyware Can Do To Your Computer
- Corrupt critical system files and trigger your computer to crash
repeatedly
- Drain bandwidth causing your computer to crawl, ruining your Internet
browsing experience
- Bloat your memory and system resources preventing you from accessing
programs, email, or the Internet
For businesses the combined effect of spyware impacts productivity,
threatens business continuity, increases support costs and compromises
data privacy.

Does Primary Response SafeConnect replace
my current antivirus solution?
No. Primary Response SafeConnect is a complementary product.
Antivirus products work fine to detect known viruses, particularly known
email viruses. Primary Response SafeConnect focuses on attacks that do
not have signatures developed to identify them as malicious. Primary
Response SafeConnect also detects complex malware that does not have
a single defining characteristic, but instead is made up of a combination
of malicious behaviors.
