Sana Security Announces Primary Response Safeconnect Support For 32- And 64-Bit Vista
Primary Response SafeConnect Is the First Zero Day Malware Protection Available For the Microsoft Vista™ Operating System
SAN MATEO, Calif. – December 12, 2006 – Sana Security, Inc., a security software company, today announced that Primary Response SafeConnect is the first behavior-based anti-malware product available for both 32- and 64-bit Microsoft Vista. The product is scheduled for release in calendar Q1 2007.
Sana’s Primary Response SafeConnect, an industry-leading behavioral solution to combat malware on PCs, has been acclaimed for its innovative approach to adding zero-day threat protection to PCs susceptible to malware attack. Primary Response SafeConnect is the only security software currently available to combat the variants of existing malware and new threats that are specifically designed to compromise Vista with its modified architecture.
Only behavior-based solutions such as Primary Response SafeConnect can protect Vista against new threats since signature-based solutions haven’t previously seen the threats, and therefore, cannot identify them.
“Traditional signature-based security products can’t stop zero-day attacks,” said Andrew Jaquith, senior analyst, Yankee Group. “Our research shows that while 99% of corporations have deployed anti-virus software, nearly two-thirds (64%) nonetheless suffered virus or worm outbreaks that disrupted at least one business unit. Behavioral security solutions are an increasingly important part of a balanced security program.”
“ Because of the way Primary Response SafeConnect is designed, it will
work in both 32-bit and 64-bit mode. This product will effectively provide
the same degree of protection in Vista that it does in Windows XP and 2000,” said
Vlad Gorelik, CTO, Sana Security.
Malware, such as malicious code variants or application-level
attacks, go undetected by legacy solutions that require signatures
or definitions and require scanning to be fully effective. Primary
Response SafeConnect affords users instant and constant protection
of their personal identity and data.
Primary Response SafeConnect utilizes Sana’s Active Malware
Defense Technology v.2 (Active MDT) to instantly detect malicious
software and remove all traces by identifying and analyzing a combination
of behaviors that indicate malware has infected the system. This
capability will afford Vista users the benefit of having software
installed that can detect new variants of malware designed to attack
Vista. While scanning and signature based solutions examine code
structure to detect malware and can render a machine unusable,
Active MDT provides more effective removal of malicious software
from the machine since it observes the behavior of the malware
and does not rely on a specific signature or definition.
Active MDT is designed to successfully detect and remove the
more complex and stealthy Trojans and rootkits, a polymorphic threat
attacking at the kernel level that often evades detection by traditional
security software. Once removal is complete, the solution continues
to work and persistently protect PCs whether online or offline,
connected or not, and with no further action required on behalf
of the user, such as the time-consuming download of updates and
system scanning.
The Internet has evolved into a collaborative communication platform
encouraging users to contribute content and stimulate discussion.
As an operating system platform, Vista will enhance and encourage
this collaboration through its integrated applications and Internet
connection capabilities. Each new content vehicle, whether it’s
a blog, podcast, or instant message, creates a new attack vector
that may be maliciously exploited to steal personal identity and
data. Security solutions must evolve to protect against these emerging
vulnerabilities and address the varying attack vectors that exist
without stifling the collaborative online process. Primary Response
SafeConnect surpasses scanning and signature-based solutions by
providing key benefits such as:
- Basic and essential protection against the latest malware and variants targeting Vista
- Comprehensive, real-time detection and removal of malware
- Threat protection against spyware, adware and phishing without requiring signature updates or scanning
- Complete removal of all traces of malware, including Trojans,
rootkits and key loggers
- Complements other signature-based solutions that cannot see or remove the latest malware threats
