Sana Security Announces Wireless Protection Solution
Primary Response Air Cover Provides Mobile Protection to Mitigate Identity and Data Theft via Wireless Connections
SAN MATEO, Calif. – November 29, 2006 – Sana
Security, Inc., a security software company, today announced Primary
Response Air Cover, a standalone product for PCs that provides
broad threat protection of online identity and sensitive data from
wireless exploits such as sniffing, hijacking and malware, including
viruses, worms, Trojans, spyware and adware. The downloadable solution
protects the growing mobile workforce across a number of connection
profiles, including home, work or on the road, against malicious
access points or ad-hoc connections, maintaining a high-level of client integrity.
The self-configuration capability within Primary Response Air Cover enables automatic
detection of various connections and configures itself over a period of time
requiring little interaction from the user.
“The Internet is dramatically evolving with increasing
activity around individual and group collaboration, pushing users
to be connected wherever and whenever they can," said Monte
Robertson, President and CEO, Software Security Solutions. "Mobile
computing presents almost unlimited opportunities for connecting
and conducting these activities. Assurance that these connections
are as secure as possible requires users to become more proactive
in implementing deterrence methods beyond traditional measures. Primary
Response Air Cover is designed to educate mobile business and individual
users about practicing safe wireless connectivity while making
sure the connections made do not threaten their personal identity
or digital information.”
Laptop computer sales are growing year over year in the private
sector as well as the enterprise1.
In a recent Gartner survey of over 2,000 mobile professionals,
it was reported that 25% used hot spots when traveling and over
two-thirds of those surveyed used Wi-Fi at least once a day. Additionally,
in a study of almost 2,500 access points in Indianapolis, presented
at the Workshop on the Economics of Information Security at the
University of Cambridge on June 26, 2006, researchers found that
46 percent were not running any form of encryption2.
Primary Response Air Cover forges the gaps in wireless security
and addresses the complexities involved with mobile computing by
automatically detecting threats that target wireless networks,
thereby preventing inadvertent and unauthorized wireless connections.
This solution not only mitigates risks associated with wireless
connections, but also adds an additional layer of protection for
personal identity and data to augment anti-malware solutions. .
“There are many solutions available, but there has been
a gap of products that can be installed on the PC to address Wi-Fi
threats” said Joseph McKay, Jr., CTO of Digital Business
Solutions. “It's about time somebody did the right thing.
With Primary Response Air Cover, Sana now provides all my customers
with what they need for complete mobile security.”
Targeted at both consumers and the mobile workforce, Primary
Response Air Cover includes basic tutorials that are built into
the product to assist in educating users about the importance of
implementing wireless security. Sana Security departs from complex
approaches to improve wireless risk levels and offers:
- Mobile flexibility with profiles to enable protection for
users whether they are at home, at work or away, providing the
ability to enable or disable interfaces manually and display
all connection interfaces
- Event notification which provides the ability to adjust the
various profiles to configure the right connection to maximize
protection
- Ease-of-use that includes profile switching to meet connection
requirements, automatic threat level assessment and intelligent
auto-configuration for seamless setup
"Over the last few years the motivation of hackers has changed
dramatically from fame-driven attacks to fortune-driven and as
such the attack vectors have evolved as well, becoming much more
targeted,” said Timothy Eades, senior vice president of sales
and marketing, Sana Security. “As laptop computers continue
to increase in popularity and targeted attacks are becoming common
practice, protecting PCs against wireless threats is becoming more
important as users are taking their digital lifestyle and job-related
data on the road with them and across unsecured networks."
Primary Response Air Cover is the newest addition to the Sana
Security product family. This standalone product combines ease-of-use
for the wireless experience with flexibility of configuration for
secure access points and notification of potential threats to the
wireless connection.
