NATIONAL INSURER ASSOCIATION DEPLOYS SANA SECURITY’S PRIMARY RESPONSE TO SAFEGUARD REMOTE WORKSTATIONS

Property Casualty Insurers Association of America Enhances Compliance and Defense in Depth Strategy with leading Anti-Malware Solution

SAN MATEO, Calif – September 14, 2006 – Sana Security, Inc., a security software company, today announced that Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI) has selected Sana’s Primary Response® anti-malware software to deliver complete protection against both known and unknown security threats, without requiring scanning and signatures. To meet the insurance industry’s stringent compliance regulations and protect against data security breaches, Primary Response offers PCI an effective security framework that includes instant and constant protection against zero-day attacks and malicious software such as Trojans, rootkits, spyware and keyloggers for its users in remote locations.

PCI is a property/casualty trade association in the United States and represents over 1,000 insurance companies responsible for writing 40.7 percent of the nation’s automobile, homeowners, business, and workers’ compensation insurance. The association provides a forum for the property/casualty insurance industry to voice its ideas and issues to lobbyists and courts at the state and federal levels, in addition to insurance, government and business groups, the media and the public. Headquartered in Des Plaines, IL with offices distributed throughout the country, PCI required a highly scalable and manageable anti-malware solution that would compliment its existing anti-virus and patch management solutions and protect workstations at the server level for 200 remote users.

Over the previous three months Sana’s installed base of products have uncovered and rebuked threats that were not yet identified by widely adopted antivirus products. Any of these malicious threats, if allowed to initialize and execute, could have seriously debilitated the threatened organization or allowed for the capture and distribution of mission-critical data. The partnership with Sana Security will enable PCI always-on protection for its remote and mobile workforce and assist the organization in maintaining the highest security posture against damaging threats that can cause harm to business systems.

“For PCI, managing malware issues for our laptops and workstations was incredibly time consuming and challenging given our number of remote locations,” said Theodore Lambert, network operations manager, PCI. “When mobile users connect to corporate networks, there is an inherent risk of an infected machine compromising data security across the entire enterprise. To continue to evolve our security architecture, we looked at behavior-based solutions that could help close the vulnerability gap that traditional signature solutions otherwise could not. Primary Response compliments our existing antivirus solution and has afforded us the ability to protect both connected and occasionally connected users, without the excess resources of signature updates and scanning.”

Primary Response centrally manages both client and server agents, including mobile and remote users. The solution provides comprehensive, real-time malware prevention that can be quickly deployed and scale across enterprise servers and PCs. Primary Response’s self-adaptation capabilities provide up-to-date threat protection without scanning and signatures, and its centralized management system affords ease-of-use while supporting maximum uptime for business critical applications.

“During the last week of July, 53 percent of PCs running traditional antivirus software were not protected from bank account-stealing Trojans. These signature-based solutions were developed over 20 years ago when compliance issues were not top of mind, especially for unmanaged endpoints,” said Timothy Eades, senior vice president of sales and marketing, Sana Security. “The regulatory landscape that exists in finance-related industries today challenges enterprises to implement a framework that supports best practices in security procedures and aligns with designated compliance requirements. There has been a considerable increase in the broad adoption of behavior-based solutions as these organizations become increasingly aware of the need for comprehensive malware defense. By deploying Primary Response PCI has strengthened its defense-in-depth security strategy to include a granular level of protection, effectively safeguarding confidential data against Trojans, rootkits and other malicious threats across all of its remote locations.”

The combination of out-of-the-box protection, adaptive profiling technology and behavioral heuristics, enabled by Sana’s Active Malware Defense Technology (Active MDT), allows organizations to defend core information assets against today’s preeminent malware threats. Primary Response features superior scalability and performance for “always-on” protection against zero-day and previously identified attacks. The solution easily integrates into existing security architectures, surpassing traditional reactive solutions to deliver automatic protection of newly discovered applications and system level security.
