SANA SECURITY TAPPED BY INTENSITY COMPUTERS
FOR IDENTITY THEFT PROTECTION
PC Manufacturer Will Use Primary Response SafeConnect
to Block Malicious Attacks
SAN MATEO, Calif. – August 14,
2006 – Sana Security, Inc., a
security software company, today announced that Intensity Computers,
a Canada-based custom personal computer assembly shop specializing
in security best practices, has chosen Primary Response SafeConnect
to provide instant and constant protection against malicious
programs without relying on signatures and scanning. Intensity
Computer’s custom PCs are built with best-in-class components,
extending the durability and lifespan of each system far beyond
mass merchandise, assembly line computers. To enforce a
security strategy that matches the life of the PCs, Intensity
Computers is adding Sana’s anti-malware solution, to safeguard
against data and identity theft threats.
“The Internet is littered with nasty programs that are difficult
to identify and remove before it’s too late,” said
Al Lamontagne, founder, Intensity Computers. “Primary Response
SafeConnect enhances the user’s experience by transparently
protecting their system, automatically removing malicious software,
minimizing support requirements and making their Internet experience
safer and more satisfying.”
With over 10,000 deployments and a growing customer base, Sana’s
strategic alliances with organizations around the world are helping
to expand its global reach to secure sensitive data and the identities
of end-users and enterprises throughout the world. Sana’s
Primary Response SafeConnect provides clients with a combination
of broad threat protection, behavioral heuristics and ease-of-use
for addressing the rise of malicious Internet-based attacks.
“Identity theft has become a formidable issue among those
who conduct online transactions for both business and personal
use,” said Timothy Eades, senior vice president of sales
and marketing, Sana Security. “Stealthy rootkits account
for more than 20 percent of all malicious programs removed from
Microsoft Windows machines, and 88 percent of computers connected
to the Internet are infected with spyware. Intensity Computers
is a great example of how manufacturers can integrate Primary Response
SafeConnect to erode the fearful posture we’ve come to accept
as part of the Internet experience. Malicious code has recognizable
behavior patterns and our behavior analysis model stops the attack
before it begins, well before signature-based solutions have time
to identify the attack and release a patch.”
In March of 2006, Sana Labs detected an “in-the-wild” rootkit,
dubbed the Hearse worm, which was discovered to be stealing upwards
of 40,000 pieces of personal and financial information and sending
it to a Russian server. Sana Security’s detection capabilities
enabled SafeConnect users in the field to identify and remove the
threat before any traditional anti-virus vendor and disable the
rootkit. The progressive, stealthy worm exploited thousands of
computer users, with the exception of Sana’s customers deploying
its anti-malware solution.
At the core of Primary Response SafeConnect is Sana Security’s
latest technology, Active Malware Defense Technology v2.0 (Active
MDT). Unlike reactive solutions, Primary Response SafeConnect is
the first commercially available anti-malware software using behavior
heuristics to instantly detect and completely remove malware before
it can harm PCs. Malicious software components, including kernel
level rootkit attacks, are quarantined and eliminated to prevent
reinstallation upon reboot. PCs are protected with always-on, proactive
protection for immunity against known and unknown threats which
disrupt business continuity and exploit online identities and information.
